The Future State of the Village of Hushville

Dear Hushvillians,

Since we started, Hushville has provided countless citizens of BRC a safe, fun, and (mostly) quiet home base during that thing we do in the desert. Some of you camped with us for the first time last year, and some of you have called Hushville home for many returns.

But, did you know that a LOT goes on throughout the year (both behind the scenes and during burn week) to keep things running and provide that space so many of love?

Things are always changing. BMORG policies change. Flounder leadership changes. People's plans change. And, with all that changes, the future of Hushville as a Burning Man village is uncertain. We can no longer continue providing the space and the services that we do, without our fellow Hushvilians stepping up and making sure all those behind-the-scenes and on-the-Playa things continue to happen.

Below are some of the duties and responsibilities that need to be filled as we decide whether to continue Hushville in 2026 and beyond.

We've been through a lot together; we're a creative, resilient, and dusty bunch of burners. If you love the home we've created in the desert year after year, here's your chance to keep it going.

Take a look at the list and let us know what you are able (and willing) to do (send us an email at roles@hushville.org). Ask us any questions, we (mostly) have the answers. But, please let us know before October 31st—we need to start planning now if we're going to bring Hushville back in 2026.

  • Hushville Point of Contact: Creates the annual letter of intent, works as a point-of-contact with BMORG Placement, handles Stewarts tickets and early-access passes, fills out the post-burn camp questionnaire.
  • Camp Registration: Manages registrations, communicates with prospective campers about registration and answers questions as they arise.
  • Greeter Station Manager: Recruits and coordinates for greeter shifts, manages the greeter station onsite, including handles check-in issues as they arise.
  • Village Layout: Works with theme camps to reserve space, creates the village map, answers questions about camping in Hushville, works with registration and greeter station onsite to keep operations smooth.
  • Website Manager: Manages, upgrades and enhances the Hushville website, deals with security and cyber attacks, manages our hosting provider (knowledge of WordPress is highly recommended).
  • Events Team Members: Encourages campers to provide interactive activities, coordinates timing of activities, manages the events calendar for the website, helps set up the events space onsite, manages the space onsite and resolves any issues as they arise.
  • Leave no Trace Wrangler: Works with campers onsite to ensure that Hushville is leaving now trace (particularly as folks are packing up and leaving).
Dusty hugs,
Your Hushville Founders
