Most of us are likely still busy cleaning up stuff. And it's more difficult to sign in and post than just respond to a listserv posting.
But, that said, I finally left at 03:45 Wednesday morning. While GARS radio said the wait was 2-3 hours, there was NO line, and within the usual 30-35 minutes of leaving camp I was on pavement. Although, interestingly, the sand/mud debris on the pavement had me a bit confused as to whether I'd actually reached pavement at first, since it was still quite dark (but a mile marker appeared about the same time as clean pavement).
What were others' experience with the radio-stated time of the backup vs. reality? Some folks reported they matched exactly, but my experience makes me wonder.
It was one of my best years ever at the Burn (since '08 for me), with the muck adding to the fun and life experience. A huge thank you to the Flounders for all the work they put in to make Hushville the welcoming successful village it is. And I so appreciated all the good times with so many folks from near and far, and the human connections made and reinforced.
Cheers/Kippis/Skål!
